Weld Valley Community Gathering

Held to highlight new Forestry Assault on World Heritage Valued Forests

A Community Gathering will be held in the Weld Valley this Saturday 24th

September. A couple of hundred people are expected to travel to the Valley for BBQ and bushwalks.

The community Gathering is being held to highlight a new Forestry assault on the Weld Valley in the next 12 months.

A new logging road proposed will provide access to 42 new coupes of high conservation value forest in the Lower Weld Valley.

A World Heritage bordering forest area is planned for industrial forestry practices in the next 6 months.

The Lower Weld Valley has been recognised and recommended for protection by eminent scientists, World Heritage Bodies, and even Tasmania;s own Parks and Wildlife. But the woodchippers are moving in.

People will gather in the Weld Valley to reclaim the forest. These people are the same ones who the Lennon Government chose to ignore and continue clearfelling these magnificent forests.
