Weld Valley activists take their protest to Parliament House

PARLIAMENT LAWNS 1pm TODAY

A community action to protest against the roading and logging of the Lower Weld Valley will be held outside Parliament House this afternoon at 1pm.

"For the last six days, bulldozers and excavators have been ripping apart the pristine forests within the Lower Weld Valley," says spokesperson Ula Majewski.

"The Weld Valley, in Tasmania's south, is of World Heritage value, and is under immediate threat from woodchipping. We are bringing our message to Parliament House, and calling on Mr Lennon to protect the ancient ecosystems of the Weld Valley and to end oldgrowth logging in Tasmania."
