Police Raid at Weld Valley Blockade - Santa in the tree offers presents as Tasmania Police bust peaceful protest
Santa in a tree sit at the Weld Valley Blockade has offered presents to Tasmania Police and Forestry workers as they arrived early this morning to remove peaceful protesters. Forest Defenders have been halting proposed logging operations in the World Heritage Value Weld Valley for the past three weeks. One activist has been arrested.
Logging in the high conservation value forests of the Weld Valley, where endangered and rare species habitat is threatened, is questionable in the light of the recent Weilangta decision.
A solidarity action will occur today in Hobart to highlight the imminent destruction of the Weld Valley, whilst the first Weld Valley Activist will be attending court today.
