Three Arrests in Tasmania's Southern Forests Action

"Three Community Activists have been arrested at a Wedge Tailed Eagle Breeding site in Tasmania's southern forests, today. Activists were locked on to three machines and were removed by State Emergency Services. Our actions are halting logging in a high conservation value forest, located on the slopes of the World Heritage Snowy Range. We are here to highlight continued destruction of Tasmania's wild forests," Spokesperson Warrick Jordan said.

"Logging practices in these forests, a continuos ecosystem with World Heritage Area and endangered species habitat, destroys the unique values Tasmania's wilderness has. The irreplaceable value of these ecosytems along the Eastern boundary of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area deserves protection. These arrests follow one arrest yesterday and an ongoing blockade for the past week now halting logging operations," Spokesperson Jenny Weber said.
