Action Continues to Protect Eagle Habitat in Tasmania's Southern Forest

"Two Community Activists have chained themselves to logging machinery in the Denison forest, today. Our action is preventing the further destruction of habitat for the Wedge Tailed Eagle, and follows on from
several days of halting logging, with one activist arrested yesterday," Spokesperson Jenny Weber said.

"An exclusion zone has been declared in the forest area and a new forestry gate has been erected. Essentially the public is being prevented from witnessing destruction of high conservation value forest," Spokesperson Warrick Jordan said.

"Wedge Tailed Eagles are an endangered species, small buffer zones given to them by Forestry Tasmania, mean nothing when large swathes of native forest are logged. Threatened high conservation value forests deserve protection, as promised by John Howard, not left to be fed to the woodchipper," Spokesperson Warrick Jordan said.
