Police end Weld forest blockade, campaigner says
There are claims police have broken up a forestry blockade in the Southern Tasmanian forests.
Jenny Weber from the Huon Environment Centre says about 60 police this morning arrived at two sites in the Weld Valley occupied by environmentalists.
Ms Weber says one of the protesters has been arrested with more expected to follow.
"Sixty police turned up this morning at 6:00 am (AEST), [and] one person was arrested," she said.
"We also still have people who are camped in a blockade on South Weld Road. As far as we know one person is still locked on.
"There's also one person in a tree sit at the Weld Valley Camp at the pirate ship and we are still waiting on developments from what's happening there."
