Nude anti-logging protesters target Tas Parliament
Environmentalists have staged a nude protest on the lawns of Tasmania's Parliament House, angry about continued logging in the Weld Valley in the state's south.
About 25 people from the Save The Weld Action Group disrobed to spread their message and promote the group's Internet address.
Spokesman Warwick Jordan says the group is usually camped in the Weld Valley, where it obstructs Forestry Tasmania's activities.
"It's just not good enough that Forestry Tasmania and the Lennon Government can continue to strip our wilderness areas and our old-growth threatened forests such as areas in the lower Weld Valley," he said.
"Forestry Tasmania needs to realise that the people of Tasmania are sick of their forests being trashed for the sake of mere economics."
The State Government is yet to respond to
the action.
