Instructions to the Weld Valley:
From the centre of Hobart, follow Davey St up till you get the
the Southern Outlet turn off (sign says Kingston + Huon Valley),
and then keep following the signs to the Huon Valley / Huonville.
When you get to the small round-a-bout in the middle of Huonville,
turn right onto Wilmot Rd. Follow Wilmot Rd out of Huonville (past
high school) towards Judbury. You will eventually come to an intersection
in Judbury, continue straight ahead towards Lonnavale. Road becomes
gravel. A road goes off to your right to Lonnavale BUT CONTINUE
GOING STRAIGHT. After many k's and bends you will come across
a big fence with a John Holland sign on it, this is Southwood.
Just past it you will come to a turn off to your right. This is
Eddy Rd, it is signposted. Take Eddy Rd. If you pass Southwood
and come to the large bridge you have missed the turn off to Eddy
Rd. Once on Eddy Rd you might either come across a locked Forestry
gate, or if you are lucky the gate will be open and you continue
on the road till you take a right hand turn (should be sign posted)
just 100 metres or so before you come to a bridge over the Weld
River. Take this right hand turn and continue till the end. If the Eddy Rd gate is locked,
it is a lovely bike ride to the camp from the gate, or takes about
an hour and a half to walk to the old Weld Ark camp site, or the Weld River.
