Tasmania's Forest Activists Conduct Peaceful Protest Highlighting Ongoing Destruction
"Forest Activists have today conducted a walk in to threatened forests
in the Kermandie valley, 5km south of Geeveston. Adjacent to well known
tourist destinations Kermandie Falls and the Hartz track,"
"Tasmanians concerned about the fate of our pristine forests will not
be cowed by legal intimidation by Forestry Tasmania, Gunns Ltd., or
anyone else. The suing of the Weld Angel, Alana Beltran , has
demonstrated the blatant misuse of government institutions to stifle
dissent," Jenny Weber said.
"Peaceful protest in defence of our unique environment is supported by
many Tasmanians and people all around Australia. The real crime
perpetrated in our forests is the clearfelling and brutal logging of
native forest," Jenny Weber said
"Forest Defenders always act peacefully in the interests of the
environment, while the forestry industry and government act like thugs
in the interests of their corporate mates. The outright lies
perpetuated by industry spin-doctors, accusing forest defenders of
violence, is a tactic to draw attention away from the destruction of
ancient forest," Jenny Weber said
"Forestry Tasmania shout from the rooftops regarding the supposedly
sustainable nature of their operations. The simple fact remains that
they are annihilating the last vestiges of unprotected ancient forest
in the Huon Valley area.," Jenny Weber said.
